Anyone get cold after a workout?
The past few weeks, I haven’t exercised as much as I would have liked. To make things worse, I got sick and was out for about a week. But I still made the effort to eat healthy and have regularly sized portions, and to walk to and from work when it wasn’t raining. I’ve also been drinking a ton of water and remembering to take my vitamins.
Despite not being at the gym as much as I would have liked, I started feeling better in my body. This morning when I went to the gym, I weighed in and saw that I’m at 135.4 lbs! That’s 0.4 lbs away from my first goal weight!
When I got home, I couldn’t find anything to wear and tried on an old pair of Levi’s skinny jeans and they fit great! It’s amazing what just a few pounds can do. NSV FTW!
The gym was great— I really just wanted to get some cardio in, so I was on the spin bike for a bit. Does anyone ever get cold after a workout? I noticed it today, and for some reason I think that this may not be good.
Day 10: Do you feel like you have given anything up over the course of this process? If yes, what is it, and how do you feel about making the sacrifice?
I am giving up on Coke and trying to stop overeating because a food may be extra delicious. I’ve been making progress, and although I usually want to eat more or drink the occasional soda, I’ve been doing pretty well. I have everything to gain.
Day 11: Promote your favorite fitblr! Why do you like their blog?
Healthyhitsthespot, skinnyforme and -eatdrinkme are a few of my favorites. I like when people post pictures of their food, share what they’re going through (the positives and the challenges), and share some personal things about themselves.
Goals for November 2011
- go to 6 classes at the gym this month
- exercise at least 3x a week
- run 40 miles
- only buy lunch 1x per week max
- indulge, but don’t get out of control at Thanksgiving
Perspective: 2 lbs
I think I’ve lost about two pounds so far. I have no idea how much of that was fat or if some fat became muscle, but I feel pretty great. Two pounds seems like such a small number and I didn’t think it would mean anything to me, but already I’m fitting into clothes a little better. I fit into older shorts today, as well as a fitted Nike running top. When I first got that top, I felt so self conscious that I wouldn’t go out/exercise in it— my tummy was too big! Today it seemed to fit fine! I didn’t feel embarrassed or awkward. It felt great. I ran around 7.5 miles today (on the elliptical, definitely not as difficult as on a treadmill or outside) and had the greatest stretch after. I just felt so good.
Also.. I noticed I am either gaining muscle in my calves or I lost some fat around my calves (or both) because the past couple of weeks I’ve noticed some muscle definition. I mean.. THERE IS MORE MUSCLE THERE, KAY?? Like.. when I poke at it, it doesn’t just jiggle around!! And when I flex, I can see it!
I’m definitely not as far into my fitness journey as many of you are, but this is a huge step for me! I went from not exercising at all to going to the gym 4-5 times a week (I want to up this to 6x/week) and eating healthy! Making myself eat a good breakfast, packing a day’s worth of food (meals and snacks) with me so I don’t buy unhealthy food elsewhere.
Today I was just thinking about how doable this all is. What if this is the start of something so much bigger? What if this isn’t just a fitness phase, but the way I am going to live the rest of my life? Tomorrow I’ll take a pic and compare it with one I took last week. Hope I see a difference!
